Police on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old labourer following the discovery of 195 grammes of cannabis in his Best Village, West Coast Demerara living room.
In a statement, Police Headquarters said ranks, acting on information received, went to the suspect’s house.
There, he was informed of the reason for the Police presence and a search was carried on his person.
Nothing illegal was found.
However, Police said a further search was conducted in the suspect’s living room and a bulky black plastic bag containing a large transparent Ziploc bag with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, was found.
The suspect was told of the offence committed, cautioned and taken to the Leonora Police Station.
The narcotics was weighed in his presence and amounted to 195.7 gramme.
The suspect remains in Police custody and is likely to be charged soon.
