Motorcyclist dies after colliding with GPL pole

Twenty-three-year-old Vickash Singh died on Friday morning after he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a Guyana Power and Light (GPL) post.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, said the incident occurred at around 03:20hrs on the Enterprise public road on the island of Leguan.

According to the statement, Singh was speeding when he lost control of his motorcycle, CK 2275.

As a result, Police said Singh ended up on the western parapet and the front of the motorcycle collided with a GPL pole.

Singh was not wearing a safety helmet.

He was picked up and taken to the Leguan Cottage hospital in an unconscious state and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Singh’s body is at the Leguan Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

  1. Now, GPL would have to install protective barrier around these Posts/Poles.
    This is total abuse of these Posts/Poles- just standing there minding their own business- or,
    perhaps, GPL could experiment with “suspended poles” 10 feet off the ground.
    How much more abuse could these poles take from speeding drivers ?
