West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd has heaped praises on Head Coach Daren Sammy for his leadership in moulding the current T20 side.
Shepherd divulged on Friday that Sammy has been instrumental in assigning specific roles to players, a strategy that has brought tremendous success, both from a team and personal level.
When Sammy took over the T20 side in May 2023, West Indies were ninth in the ICC rankings. Since then, the Caribbean side has moved to fourth with consistent performance in bilateral series.
Those performances have made West Indies one of the favourites to lift the ICC Men’s World T20 title, with the tournament set to start on Saturday in the USA.
West Indies play their first game against Papua New Guinea on Sunday from 10:30h at the National Stadium, Providence.
