Dindyal, Van Lange entrusted with leadership roles in Guyana U-19 team

West Indies Under-19 batsman Mavindra Dindyal has been appointed captain of the Guyana Under-19 team to compete in the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional U-19 tournament, which bowls off July 2.
“Last year’s Guyana Under-17 captain Jonathan Van Lange was named deputy, as he and Dindyal will have a number of talented players at their disposal, most if not all of whom featured or played key roles last season,” the Guyana Cricket Board said in a release.
“Among the high-profile names selected by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Selection Panel are Rampertab Ramnauth, Sachin Balgobin, Alvin Mohabir, Zachary Jodah, Jonathan Van Lange, Thaddeus Lovell and others, who will form a talented unit, the future core of Guyana’s cricket.”
“Exciting young fast bowler Isai Thorne, who made his First-Class debut in this year’s West Indies Championship, is unavailable after he was recently named to tour England with the West Indies Test team as a development player from June 23.”
The Guyana Under-19 team, which had an excellent tournament last season, despite coming up short, is expected to wing out on June 30, with action bowling off a few days after in St. Vincent.
The team is expected to begin encampment soon. The lads from Jamaica are the defending champions.
