Local sporting goods giant MVP Sports has reaffirmed its commitment to youth football development by renewing its sponsorship of the Annual Upper Mazaruni U-18 Football Tournament.

Tournament coordinator Niel Henrito visited the MVP Sports store at Giftland Mall on Wednesday to receive the sponsorship package.

“I’m incredibly grateful for MVP’s support,” said Henrito. “This sponsorship will go a long way in developing football, especially amongst young people in the Upper Mazaruni region.”

Selwyn Apple, representing MVP Sports, reiterated the company’s dedication to fostering sports across Guyana. “We’re always happy to support any form of sport, particularly football. We remain committed to the overall development of sports in our country.”

The exact value of the sponsorship remains undisclosed, but it includes a cash contribution and four footballs to be used during the tournament.

The Upper Mazaruni U18 Football Tournament is set to kick off on June 16th. This year’s edition expands to include both male and female teams from the villages of Paruima, Waramadong, Kamarang, Kako, Jawalla, and Phillipai. Paruima emerged victorious in the inaugural male-only tournament held last year.
