Guyanese table tennis star Chelsea Edghill, on her way to the Paris 2024 Olympics, has announced the launch of the EDGE Sports Management & KFC Guyana Summer Showdown Table Tennis tournament.

This initiative aims to inspire and develop the next generation of Guyanese table tennis players.

The tournament kicks off on July 5th at the Guyana Olympic Association building.
The combined prize pool is G$1.1 million, and additional special prizes are available.

Dignitaries, including Her Excellency Guo Haiyan, Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Guyana, attended the launch ceremony.

Representatives from the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), junior and senior national teams, national coach Idi Lewis, and well-wishers were also present.

Sadia Strand, Marketing Director of KFC Guyana, spoke about the newly formed partnership with Edge Sports Management.

Andrew Daly, Vice President of the GTTA, wished the organizers well and emphasized the tournament’s importance for fostering young talent. He even hinted at the possibility of future KFC sponsorship for another competition.

Aspiring players can register online at https://edgesportsmanagement.com/.

Edghill’s initiative promises a thrilling summer showdown, providing a platform for Guyana’s budding table tennis players to showcase their skills while competing for a significant prize pool.
