Truck driver remanded for illegal possession of gun, ammo & drugs

Skakeil Grant, a 27-year-old truck driver, was on Friday remanded to prison after he was charged for the illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition and a quantity of narcotics.

Grant, a resident of Section ‘B’ Sophia, appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparandaam Magistrate’s Court.

He faced three charges: possession of firearm with a license, possession of ammunition without a license and possession of narcotics.

Grant pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to July 17 for disclosure.

Police said Grant was arrested on June 11 by a rank of the Sparandaam Police station following the discovery of the items.
