Abrams pips Cornette to 200m title in photo-finish at Senior Championships

Olympian Aliyah Abrams, more known for her exploits in the 400m, was pushed to the line by young Juvonna Cornette in the Women’s 200m final at the Senior Track and Field Championships, organised by the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG).

Abrams clocked 23.418 seconds, followed closely by Cornette (23.598s), Keliza Smith (23.715s), and Athaleyha Hinckson (23.942s).

Abrams’s win resulted in a productive weekend at the National Track and Field Facility, West Coast Demerara, where she also won her pet event.

However, the Olympian would want to make the most of the Aliann Pompey Invitational on June 22 as a key chance to make the entry-standard time for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games before June 30.
