Three Guyanese athletes- sisters Aliyah and Jasmine Abrams and sprinter Emanuel Archibald- are aiming to make the Olympic qualifying mark when they compete in the Aliann Pompey Invitational on Saturday (June 22) at the National Track and Field Centre, West Coast Demerara.

Aliyah is vying to qualify in the Women’s 400m, Jasmine in the Women’s 100m and Archibald in the Men’s 100m for the Paris Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11.

Just last weekend Archibald bolted to a new personal best of 10.09s, shattering the decade-old national record of 10.12s previously held by Adams Harris.

The trio spoke to local media operatives on Friday at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport office on Main Street, Georgetown.
