Guyana Mixed Martial Arts unveils initial roster for Pan Am Games


The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF) has announced its initial list of athletes vying for a spot on the team heading to the Pan American Games in Monterrey, Mexico, this August.

Following the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) ‘s first-come, first-served approach within weight categories, the GMMAF registered athletes based on their availability.

Athletes from Ying Yang, Spartan Fight Central, GPFMMA, John Campayne MMA, ACCMMA, and 360 Muay Thai MMA all threw their hats in the cage to compete.

The federation congratulated all the hopefuls and emphasized the importance of continued dedication and hard work as they train for the prestigious Pan American Games.

Aspiring Guyanese MMA Fighters:

  • Strawweight/Flyweight: Kevin Issacs (JCMAA)
  • Bantamweight: Celvor Narain (ACMA), Dexter Atkinson (GPFMMAA)
  • Featherweight: Dellieus Small (GPFMMAA), Anthonio Johnson (GPFMMAA)
  • Lightweight: Darnel Jessamy (JCMAA), Yeshoshua Boodie (YYFC)
  • Welterweight: Trevlon Clarke (Harpy Eagle), Chris Lewis (JCMAA)
  • Middleweight: Joshua Alexander (360 Strike), Ijaz Cave (GPFMMAA)
  • Light Heavyweight: Maheen Scott (JCMAA)
  • Heavyweight: Christopher James (JCMAA), Carl Ramsey (JCMAA)
  • Super Heavyweight: John Campayne (JCMAA), Linden Fung (GPFMMAA)
  • Women’s Atomweight: Shonda Thomas (GPFMMAA)
  • Women’s Strawweight: Xuxa Thomas (GPFMMAA)
  • Women’s Lightweight: Shenese Bobb (GPFMMAA), Anevia Frank (Harpy Eagle)

This is the first step in the selection process, with the final team roster to be determined later.
