The West Indies’ three-day tour match against a County Select XI ended in a draw on Friday after rain curtailed the final session at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham.

Set 163 for victory, the County Select XI reached 30-2 before bad weather forced an early close.

Earlier, Alick Athanaze top-scored for the tourists with an unbeaten 66, his second fifty of the match. Wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva (51 not out) also impressed with a composed half-century.

The West Indies declared on 196-5 in their second innings after bowling out the Select XI for 373 in the first innings.

Speaking after the match, West Indies assistant coach Jimmy Adams said the team was satisfied with what they achieved in the warm-up game.

“The batsmen got some valuable time in the middle, with a few scoring fifties and one going on to a hundred,” Adams said. “The bowlers also looked good in patches.

“It was an excellent opportunity for everyone to get some workload ahead of the important first Test against England at Lord’s.”

The opening Test against England starts on Wednesday, July 10.
