Guyana’s leading tapeball cricket teams have confirmed their participation in the second edition of the Kares One Guyana T10 Blast, which will bowl-off off on August 3 with the Round of 32 matches.

The fast-paced tournament will see the  Round of 16 the following day, while the quarter-finals will be on August 11.

The grand finale and a Cricket for Charity match will be held on August 25 at the National Stadium.

Defending champions Eccles All-Stars return to the fray alongside crowd favorites Village Rams, Mahdia (Movements Family), Tarmac Titans, Team Corruption, and The Guards, among other quality teams from all three counties.

Tournament organiser John Ramsingh expressed optimism for an even stronger showing this year. “Last year’s on-field quality was exceptional,” he said.

“Based on the buzz, teams are coming in better prepared, which promises an exciting tournament for fans.”

The crowd support was overwhelming for many of the matches

Ramsingh welcomed the growing involvement of private companies. Premier Insurance and Montra Jaguars join V-Net Communications in establishing “franchises” within the competition.

“We aim to foster investment in community cricket from both private and public sectors,” Ramsingh explained.

“This benefits players while providing fans with high-quality entertainment. While we’re still working on the ideal player reward structure, we’re on the right track. We believe this tournament has the potential to become a major regional event, with international aspirations in the future.”

The final list of participating players will be revealed after July 28.

The winner’s purse has been increased to G$1.5 million, with G$500,000 for the runner-up and G$250,000 for each losing semifinalist.

Individual awards will be given for Player of the Final, Most Wickets, Most Runs, and Most Valuable Player.

Star Rentals has committed to the first-place prize, while the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport will support the tournament for the next two years.

The Ministry of Housing and Water, along with Demerara Mutual, have signed as well.
