Guyana’s U-19 Women’s team continued their dominant run in the CWI Rising Stars Championship, securing a convincing 81-run victory over Jamaica in round two. This win marks their second consecutive victory, solidifying their position at the top of the standings.

Electing to bat first at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Guyana posted a competitive total of 133/7 from their allotted 20 overs.

Opening batter Naomi Barkoye led the charge with a well-composed 46 runs, while skipper Releanna Grimmond chipped in with a valuable 31.

Jamaica’s chase fell flat from the outset, with Danellie Mann proving to be unplayable.

The young Guyanese spinner ripped through the Jamaican batting order, claiming a remarkable four wickets for just 15 runs.

The supporting bowling duo of Nyia Latchman (2-8) and Trisha Hardat (2-11) ensured a swift dismissal, bowling out Jamaica for a mere 52 runs in 15.2 overs.

Guyana will look to maintain their winning momentum as they face Barbados today at 10:00h at the Park Hill Playing Field.

Their impressive performance thus far bodes well for their chances of securing a solid finish in the tournament.
