Sex worker shot dead on King Street


A sex worker was shot dead during the wee hours of Thursday at the corner of King Street and South Road, Georgetown.

The victim has been identified as “Shawn” and “Kyle Bottle,” a 28-year-old resident of Grove, East Bank Demerara.

The News Room understands that the incident occurred around 02:00hrs between King Street and South Road, Georgetown.

Information gathered by the News Room revealed that the victim was standing on the roadway in the company of another sex worker.

A silvered-coloured Premio car, which was heavily tinted, then approached south from Croal Street, Georgetown. Several loud explosions, suspected to be gunshots, were heard coming from the car.

Out of fear, Shawn and the other sex worker ran. However, reports are that Shawn fell to the ground about 100 feet away.

The car drove away north on King Street.

Shawn was found lying in a pool of blood. He was pronounced dead by a doctor attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Investigators recovered nine 9mm spent shells at the scene

The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens funeral home awaiting post-mortem examination.

The News Room was informed that as the investigation continues, several CCTV cameras was seen in the area and will be reviewed.
