The battle lines will now be drawn as teams know their opponents in the first round of the Kares One Guyana Tapeball Blast as the organisers revealed the fixtures on Saturday.

With the tournament being contested on a straight knock-out basis, a release stated, “It is do or die from ball one.”

The round-of-32 will be on August 3 at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Police Sports Club (PSC) along with Queen’s College, which will host matches concurrently on pitches one and three.

Those who win will return to DCC and PSC the next day for the round of 16.

Matches on both days are scheduled for 09:00h, 11:00h, 13:00h and 15:00h.

The eight remaining teams will battle at the Enmore Community Centre on August 11 for a spot in the semi-finals and final, which will be held on August 25 at the National Stadium.

Unlike the previous tournament, where teams had to play multiple matches in a day, they would only be required to play one per day, except if they reach the final day.

More big sixes are on the cards for 2024

“It is hard to pick a winner, so many of these teams are household names; they are quality community teams. I am quite certain that they all are compiling some extremely powerful squads for the tournament, which means the general public will be the beneficiaries of exhilarating action from the ball”, organiser John Ramsingh stated.

He added, “The weather is a bit gloomy now, but we all hope it improves for uninterrupted play on match days. Even though it is not the best of weather, it is pleasing to see teams still having practice sessions and corporate Guyana sponsoring teams. The ripple effects are most pleasing, and it is great to see the players benefiting.”

Matches on August 3: MS-13 All-Stars v Team Corruption – QC Pitch 1 at 09:00h; Upsetters v GPL Inc – QC Pitch 3 at 09:00h; Montra Jaguars v Falcons XI – PSC at 09:00h; Street Ballerz v Village Rams – DCC at 09:00h; EC Express v Mahdia – DCC at 11:00h; Soesdyke XI v Airport XI – QC pitch 1 at 11:00h; Renegades Cricket Club v Tarmac Titans – PSC at 11:00h; Eccles All-Stars v Eastsyde – QC pitch 3 at 11:00h; Titans All-Stars v Stripling Warriors – PSC at 13:00h; PREMIER Insurance v Min. Housing – QC pitch 1 at 13:00h; Moruca Super Giants v Lil Rams – QC pitch 3 at 13:00h; The Guards v Mahaica Super Strikers – 13:00h at DCC; Green Scorpions v Avinash All-Stars – QC pitch 1 at 15:00h; Brooklyn Youth Strikers v Cotton Tree Die Hard – PSC at 15:00h; Diamond Gunners v TG Titans – DCC at 15:00h; The United Crew v Bartica Bulls – QC pitch 3 at 15:00h.

The Kares One Guyana T10 Blast boasts a larger prize pool this year, with the winner taking home a cool G$1.5 million. The runner-up will receive G$500,000, while the losing semifinalists will each walk away with G$250,000.

Kares Engineering, Banks DIH, Star Rentals, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Montra Restaurant and Longue, Ministry of Housing and Water, Premier Insurance, Regal Stationary & Computer Centre, ENet, Avinash Contracting and Scrap Metal Inc., Demerara Mutual Insurance, Massy Distribution, RS53 Restobar & Lounge, Jacobs Jewellery & Pawn Shop, and First Change Builders Inc. are the other sponsors on board thus far.
