In another demonstration of its commitment to supporting local athletes, KFC Guyana has signed Guyana and West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie as a Brand Ambassador for one year.
Since making his international debut for West Indies in December 2021, the 29-year-old Motie has become a fixture for the Caribbean side across formats.
The Albion cricketer is currently with the West Indies team in England, taking 2-41 and scoring 14* and 31* against the host in James Anderson’s farewell Test at Lord’s.
Sadia Strand, Marketing Director of KFC Guyana, welcomed Motie as the face of the company for the next 12 months.
“KFC Guyana is proud to have Mr. Gudakesh Motie join our family as a Brand Ambassador. We look forward to collaborating on various projects as he continues to grow in the sport of cricket,” Strand said.
“With CPL 2024 fast approaching, we have some fun initiatives to look out for that will celebrate this new union and the games to come. Welcome to the KFC Family Mr. Motie.”
Motie has been retained by reigning champions Guyana Amazon Warriors for the upcoming 2024 Caribbean Premier League and he is expected to play a key role as the franchise looks to make a successful title defence.
Last season he produced some match-winning spells on his way to 15 wickets, the third most by a Warriors bowler behind Dwaine Pretorious (20) and Imran Tahir (18).
Motie was elated to partner with the global franchise.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be Brand Ambassador for KFC Guyana. I plan to represent the company to the best of my ability in the various projects that are planned. Thanks to everyone who worked beyond to make this alliance a reality,” the versatile cricketer said.
Earlier this year, Motie was voted the ICC Men’s Player-of-the-Month for May 2024, marking yet another significant achievement for West Indies cricket this year.
The accolade followed Hayley Matthews’ ICC Women’s Player-of-the-Month award for April 2024, as well as Shamar Joseph’s win in January.
Motie’s performances throughout May were pivotal, particularly during the home series against South Africa, where he took eight wickets at an impressive average of 8.50.
His Player-of-the-Series efforts were instrumental in securing a 3-0 series victory for West Indies. Additionally, Motie’s form continued into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where he took eight wickets at an average of 18.
In February 2023, in just his third Test match, Motie picked up 7-37 and 6-62 against Zimbabwe, for match-figures of 13-99.
It is the best figures in a Test match by a West Indies spinner, bettering Sonny Ramadhin’s 11-152 against England in 1950.
Finally good for you Motie god is awake the creatures cant keep you down Who God Bless No Mn Can Curse.
