Rebel Tennis Club shines at SAGICOR Junior Tennis Tournament in Trinidad


The Rebel Tennis Club enjoyed a successful outing at the SAGICOR JUNIOR Tournament in Trinidad, held from July 6th to 11th.
Head Coach Andre Erskine led the team to a string of impressive results.
In the U10 Division One categories, Michael Fordyce emerged as runner-up in the Boys division, while Israbella Grannum emerged victorious in the Girls division.
Grannum’s dominance continued with a runner-up finish in the doubles alongside her Trinidadian partner.
Samara Siland and Melissa Goodman secured the top two spots in the Junior Girls division, while Rafeeq Prince claimed the runner-up position in the Junior Boys division.
Moving to the older age groups, Matthew Jardine and Nikosi Bacchus staged an all-Guyanese final in the Senior Boys (Division 2), claiming the winner and runner-up trophies respectively.
Nathan DeNobrega, a familiar face on the podium, achieved a double victory. He dominated the Boys U14 Singles and secured the Doubles title alongside Denny Estava of St. Lucia.
Adding to the success, Gerald Scotland and Denzel Luthers secured their first regional doubles title with a three-set victory over the second-seeded Trinidadian team.
Dequan Boston reached the semi-finals in the Junior Boys division, while Navindra Arjune secured his first regional semi-final appearance. Although young, Mia Bullen displayed her talent at her first competition outside Guyana, showcasing a promising future.
The strong showing by the Rebel Tennis Club across various age groups highlights the dedication of both players and coaching staff, solidifying Guyana’s presence on the regional tennis scene.
