President Irfaan Ali Tuesday night expressed his support for officers and members of the Police Force and other disciplined forces wearing jewelry and engaging in other forms of self- expression, saying that ethics and professionalism are what should matter.

The President’s remarks highlight his commitment to balancing personal freedom with professional integrity in the nation’s security forces.

“I support every Guyanese expressing themselves,” President Ali told the News Room.

Emphasizing the significant contributions of the Joint Services, he added, “I have seen the tremendous work of members of our joint services.”

President Ali’s stance comes amidst discussions about dress codes and personal expression.

He clarified that while he sees no issue with officers wearing jewelry, the overarching principles of ethics and professionalism must remain intact.

“I see no difficulty in these officers and members wearing jewelry within the dress code and standards of the service,” Ali stated. “The overriding principles remain the standard ethics and professionalism of these officers.”

The President’s remarks also included commendations for the dedication and patriotism of the Joint Services personnel.

“I can say for the vast majority of these men and women I have encountered hard working patriots,” he noted, highlighting the integrity and commitment of those serving in Guyana’s security forces.

In his vision for the future, President Ali expressed a continued focus on enhancing the professionalism and training of the Joint Services.

“We will continue working together in building a modern, professional and highly trained joint services,” he affirmed, signaling ongoing efforts to elevate the standards and capabilities of Guyana’s security forces.
