Teen student dies after intoxicated friend crashes into Fairfield house

An accident at Fairfield on the Essequibo Coast has claimed the life of a teenager who attends the Aurora Secondary School. Dead is 16-year-old Julio Joseph of Pomona Housing Scheme.

According to reports, the accident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday. The driver, Gavinash Narine, was reportedly imbibing with Joseph and another friend moments before and is believed to have been intoxicated beyond the legal limit.

The dead teen reportedly did not consume alcohol. Narine lost control and crashed into a house at Fairfield, Region Two. The boys were heading home at the time of the accident.

They were all rushed to the hospital but Joseph succumbed while receiving treatment.

The other friend, Gavinash Narine, 20, of Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, was injured and is hospitalised.
