Bibi Zarida Allie, 18, and her common-law husband Nirav Sukdeo, 24, were reportedly heading home after an outing at Skeldon in the wee hours Monday when Sukdeo crashed into a crane parked on the road.
Allie lived at Clifton with her family but moved out about eight months ago to go live with Sukdeo, against her father’s approval.
“I am hurt, it hurts me real bad because she was my first-born, and as a father, you must feel hurt…,” said Mr Mohamed Allie.
His daughter was a medical technologist – the same profession as Mr Sukdeo. His family owns and operates the Bio Tech Laboratory at their Lancaster home.
The couple were heading to Mr Sukdeo’s home when the crashed happened on the Kiltern Public Road around 02:00 hrs.
Anand Seeraj, a resident of Kiltern, was awakened by the sound of the crash.
“I don’t live too far from where the accident happened. All I heard was a loud bang, and when I got up and went to the front verandah, I saw the car on the other side of the road, like it had hit the crane and ended up there…,” Seeraj stated.
According to Seeraj, the female in the car was dead, and the driver’s legs were broken.
Initial Police investigations indicated that Mr Sukdeo was speeding and may have been intoxicated.
Ms Allie’s father, Mohamed Allie, said he received a call around 2:56 am today informing him that his daughter had been involved in an accident and had died.
He went down to the Skeldon Hospital and he described what he saw remaining of his daughter: “Her whole body was broken up, her brains dismantled, her legs, neck, everything just broken up….”
According to the father, his daughter was not married to Sukdeo but had decided to leave her Clifton family home to live with him against their approval. Ms Allie made her decision eight months ago.
Mr Sukdeo remains hospitalized.
Why the driver is alive is because he crashed the passenger side where the runaway woman was seated.
Maybe, there was an argument about his speeding, or something else.
When he is well, able to talk, should be grilled by investigators.
All accidents must, should be investigated, not assumed it’s ok with one alive.
