Guyana emerged victorious in their Cricket West Indies Rising Stars U19 Regional 50-Over match against Jamaica, securing a narrow 15-run win on Tuesday in Vincent and the Grenadines.

Batting first, Guyana posted a total of 175 all out in 49.5 overs. Opener Rampertab Ramnauth top-scored with a well-compiled 45 (5x4s), while contributions from Thaddeus Lovell (23), Riyad Latiff (25), and Isai Thorne (21) provided valuable support.

Odel Samuels and Tamarie Redwood shared the bowling spoils for Jamaica, claiming 4-19 and 3-31, respectively.

Jamaica started their chase positively, with openers Brian Barnes (59) and Adrian Weir (35) laying a decent foundation. However, they were unable to capitalize, losing wickets at regular intervals.

Left-arm spinner Golcharran Chulai was a thorn in Jamaica’s side, taking 2-29, but the star of the show, however, was Mavendra Dindyal, whose exceptional bowling figures of 5-24 in 9 overs restricted Jamaica’s scoring and secured victory for Guyana.

Jamaica was eventually bowled out for 162 in 34.1 overs, falling short of the target.

Guyana faces Leeward Islands today (July 24) at Park Hill Playing Field from 09:30h.
