Guyanese swimmer Raekwon Noel made history on Saturday, shattering his national record in the 400m freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Noel clocked an impressive time of 4:02.29s, eclipsing his previous best of 4:03.57s.

Although he finished second in his heat, the 18-year-old’s performance showcased his talent on the world stage.

While Noel’s journey ends in the heats, his record-breaking achievement is a significant milestone for Guyanese swimming.

Meanwhile, fellow Guyanese competitor Chelsea Edghill, representing the nation in table tennis, Chelsea Edghill gave it all but ultimately fell short in her opening match to Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou 4-1.

Edghill showed tremendous heart, bouncing back from a set down to level the match at 1-1.

However, Hanffou proved to be too strong, eventually securing the victory.
