Guyana’s wait to regain a male regional under-19 title will continue after they finished second in the 50-over tournament. Guyana won their last match against Windward Islands, but their lone defeat to Barbados was the difference in who won the title in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

It was another win for team Guyana, which performed better in the 50-over format than the Two-Day format, with four wins out of five.

Barbados would have won both the Two-Day and the 50-Over.

2018 was the last time the Guyana Under-19 boys tasted title success when they won the 50-over tournament in St. Vincent.

They did the ‘double’ a year prior, with Julian Moore being the head coach.

On Tuesday, skipper Mavendra Dindyal continued his fine with the ball with 3-15 from eight overs, while Riyad Latiff (2-17) and Thaddeus Lovell (2-24) chipped in bundling the Windward Islands for 148 in 40.2 overs.

Skipper Stephan Pascal scored 58 from 98 balls; the next best was 21 from Kirsten Murray.

Guyana reached 152-5 in 38.2 overs, with Jonathan Van Lange smashing two sixes and four fours in an unbeaten 50 from 62 balls. Romeo Deonarine made 23, Dindyal (22), and Rampertab Ramnauth (21).
