A murder investigation is underway following the death of Miracarmen Rodrigues Serrano, a female sex worker whose body was discovered on July 29. A post-mortem examination has determined that Serrano died from manual strangulation and blunt trauma to the head.
The examination, conducted by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, revealed that Serrano sustained severe injuries that led to her death. The victim’s identity was confirmed by her sister, Algandrina Rodrigues.
The investigation took a significant turn when police detained Terrance Miguel, the primary suspect in the case. Miguel was apprehended from Quartzstone Backdam and has since been interviewed by detectives. According to police reports, Miguel confessed to paying Serrano for sex. He stated that after their initial encounter, he sought to engage in sexual activity with her again without compensation. When Serrano refused, Miguel allegedly assaulted her, resulting in her death.
A video recording of Miguel’s confession has been secured as evidence. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining all available evidence and pursuing further leads.
