Vurlon Mills Football Academy to test skills in Trinidad

In a groundbreaking move for Guyanese youth football, the Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) U12 team is set to compete in an international tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the academy, this marks the first time a Guyanese U12 club has ventured abroad for such a competition.

The tournament, hosted by the Athletic International Academy of Trinidad, will provide a valuable opportunity for the young players to test their skills against international competition.

The squad, comprising 16 talented youngsters, is eager to represent Guyana and make their mark on the tournament when they depart for Trinidad on August 1.

The primary focus of this trip is on players’ development, enjoyment, and creation of positive memories. Whether it’s improving skills, making friends, or experiencing new cultures, this journey will contribute significantly to our players’ growth both on and off the field.

Founder and Director of VMFA, Vurlon Mills, expressed immense pride in the boys’ hard work and commitment. “This is a monumental step for our academy and a testament to these young players’ hard work. They have shown tremendous growth and dedication, and I am confident they will benefit from this experience,” said Mills.

The selected players for the tournament are Davin Smith, Leslie Khan, Noel Persaud, Aderemi Simon, Adiel Hamilton, Lamar Lovell, Jarell Mendonca, Dontay Kowlessar, Wyatt Fernandes, Omari St.Hill,n Fabio Kowlessar, Tyrese Robinson, Raheem Gill, Godfrey Greaves, Avion Lynch, Simeon Devonish

Coaches Vurlon Mills, Oshazay Savory, and Wheatland Fordyce accompany the team, and Marisha Fernandes serves as the Team Manager.

“The team is eager to showcase their talents and make a mark in the international football arena. Their participation in this tournament not only highlights their personal achievements but also places VMFA on the map as a breeding ground for young football talent”, Academy stated.
