Businessman nabbed with unlicensed gun, ammo
Dwayne Griffith, a 26-year-old Kitty, Georgetown businessman, was nabbed with an unlicensed 9mm pistol and 11 matching rounds of ammunition at about 08:30 hrs Saturday.
Police Headquarters reported that ranks were on mobile patrol duty on Robb Street, Georgetown, when they received information and proceeded to the Red Dragon Night Club.
There, they contacted Griffith and conducted a search on his person, during which the pistol with a magazine containing 11 live 9mm rounds of ammunition was found in the waist of his pants.
Griffith was asked if he was the holder of a firearm license, and he said, “No”.
He was told of the offence committed, arrested, and cautioned.
He was then arrested and taken to Alberttown Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were marked, sealed, and lodged in separate evidence bags in his presence to be taken to the ballistics section for analysis.
The suspect was placed into custody. Investigations are in progress.
