Electrician, 70, injured in Norton Street shooting 

Raymond Knipe, a 70-year-old electrician of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was injured Saturday night after he was shot by a gunman who infiltrated his premises.

Police Headquarters noted that Knipe parked a bus (#BNN 9253) in his yard at about 21:15 hrs Saturday. At that time, a man dressed in black clothing, including a hoodie pulled over his head, walked into the yard and attempted to shoot Knipe.

It was reported, however, that the gun did not fire though the man squeezed the trigger. As such, Knipe ran to the back of his house and attempted to open the grilled door to get into the apartment.

The assailant ran after Knipe and then discharged several rounds in his direction, causing him (Knipe) to receive injuries about his body.

Police reported that the shooter then exited the yard, entered a motorcar (#PAB 8252) and drove away in an eastern direction- heading towards Mandela Avenue- making good his escape.

Subsequently, the victim was picked up

public-spirited citizens and taken to a city hospital, where he was admitted. He is in a stable condition nursing two gunshot wounds.

The scene was processed, and investigators recovered three 9mm spent shells. Efforts to locate the suspect and the car have been unsuccessful so far but investigations continue.
