Fisherman arrested with over 130 grams of marijuana
Matthew Beharry, 33, a fisherman known as ‘Shortman,’ was arrested late Tuesday night after being found in possession of 134.5 grams of cannabis. The arrest occurred around 11:45 hrs by CID officers from Regional Division #2.
The officers were on mobile patrol when they acted on information received and visited a boat house at the Supenaam waterfront. There, they encountered Beharry and searched both him and the premises. They discovered a bulky black plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis.
When confronted with the evidence, Beharry stated, “Officer, it is not my own.” He was then arrested and taken to the Aurora Police Station. The narcotic was weighed in his presence, confirming a total of 134.5 grams. Beharry remains in custody and is expected to be charged in connection with the possession of the controlled substance.
