Oudwin Binda, 47; Clent Gray, 27; and Shermon Thompson, 44 were taken into custody on Wednesday by police in Corentyne Berbice. They faced charges of larceny related to the theft of two bulls valued at $240,000.
The accused appeared before Tuanna Hardy at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on August 8. During the proceedings, the virtual complainant, Ganisey Parsram, a 63-year-old pensioner from #64 Village, Corentyne, opted for a financial settlement rather than pursuing the charges. Parsram accepted a compensation payment of $260,000, leading to the discontinuation of the case.
The investigation into the alleged cattle theft led to the arrest of the three men, but the swift resolution through compensation has brought the matter to a close. This outcome highlights the potential for financial restitution to resolve disputes and the efficiency of local judicial processes.
They might have begged for mercy! But I am not sure if this will serve as a deterrent ,may be they all belong to the same place.Trust they repented and changed their ways.
