Antigua defeats Guyana 2-1 in CFU U-14 Challenge Series

Guyana’s U-14 squad got off to a rocky start at the Caribbean Football Union Boys’ Challenge Series, losing 2-1 to Antigua and Barbuda.

Despite a spirited effort, the young Golden Jaguars found themselves trailing by two goals at halftime.

Mark Glasgow managed to pull one back for Guyana, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point.

Guyana Football Federation President Wayne Forde offered words of encouragement, emphasizing the learning experience for the young players. “This is a tough start, but these boys have a bright future,” Forde said. “They’ll bounce back stronger.”

Guyana will look to regroup as they face Barbados on Sunday before taking on St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Cayman Islands in their remaining group stage matches.

Guyana will resume its campaign against Barbados today at 11:00h before battling St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the 21st at 14:00h,

The Golden Jaguars will tackle the Cayman Islands in their final group fixture on the 23rd at 11:00h.

The top teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
