Jahiem Gangoo, 16, died on Sunday after he was involved in an accident along the Onverwagt Public Road, West Coast Berbice.
Gangoo, of Hopetown, West Coast Berbice, was riding a motorcycle, #CL 7060, when the accident occurred at about 19:50 hrs Sunday. Elijah Rigby, 14, was the pillion rider.
Reports are that the motorcycle suddenly swerved into the path of motorcar #PAG 906, driven by Sherwin Goring.
The collision was reportedly devastating, with the car’s left front striking the motorcycle’s right side, sending both riders tumbling onto the roadway.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, rushing both Gangoo and Rigby to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital.
Tragically, doctors pronounced Jahiem Gangoo dead. Rigby, who sustained injuries in the accident, was treated and later discharged.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
