The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is witnessing a significant surge in the membership of its youth arm, the Progressive Youth Organization (PYO), following visits by the party’s General Secretary, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo. The recent increase in PYO membership is especially notable after widespread support was garnered during a visit to Region Nine.

Dr. Jagdeo’s latest visit to the East Bank Demerara/Highway Youth Engagement Forum in Diamond, East Bank Demerara, saw a strong turnout from young people in Region Four eager to engage with the party’s leadership. The forum provided an opportunity for youths to discuss their aspirations, challenges, and the role they can play in shaping the future of Guyana.

The PPP General Secretary’s visits across various regions have been part of a broader strategy to strengthen the PYO and ensure that the party remains connected with the younger generation. This approach has proven effective, as seen in Region Nine, where the PYO has seen a notable increase in membership following Dr. Jagdeo’s visit and engagement with the youth there.

Dr. Jagdeo’s outreach efforts are also aimed at addressing the concerns of young people and fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility within the party. By providing a platform for open dialogue, the PPP hopes to inspire a new generation of leaders who are committed to the party’s values and the development of Guyana.

As the PPP continues to expand its outreach, the growth of the PYO reflects a renewed interest among young people in political participation and leadership. The party’s ongoing engagement initiatives are expected to further strengthen the PYO, ensuring that the voices of Guyana’s youth are heard and represented in the country’s political landscape.

The next phase of Dr. Jagdeo’s regional visits will aim to build on the momentum gained from recent engagements.
