Quentin Sampson blasts Titans All-Stars to Kares One Guyana T10 title

Titans All-Stars are the new Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast champions after Quentin Sampson played a belligerent innings in the final on Saturday evening at the National Stadium, Providence.

Sampson hammered nine sixes and eight fours in a destructive innings of 86* from 30 balls that took the match away from Montra Jaguars.

Sampson and Keemo Paul (40 from 17 balls) took hold of the Jaguars’ bowling after they were on the ropes, with Sachin Singh (9), Shemroy Barrington (0), and Kemol Savory (0) not making any significant impact.

The two national players blasted the Titans to 151-4 from 10 overs, with Kevlon Anderson (2-38) having the best figures for the Jaguars.

Though the Jaguars also have numerous national players at their disposal, the scoreboard pressure seemed too much as they reached 82-8 when their overs expired.

Ramnaresh Sarwan struck two sixes and two fours in a top-score of 21 from 11, while Raymond Perez made a nine-ball 20.

Nial Smith (3-21), Ronaldo Alimohamed (2-20), Christopher Barnwell (1-16), and Sampson (1-19) did the damage for Titans, who pocketed $1.5M compliments of Star Rentals.

Montra Jaguars took home $500,000 from SuperBet Guyana, while two losing semi-finalists, Mahdia (Movements Family) and Diamond Gunners, received $250,000 each from Premier Insurance.

Sampson took home several awards, including Player of the Final, Most Wickets (seven), and Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

The Player of the Final award was sponsored by Regal Stationery & Computer Centre and included $75,000 cash, a trophy, and a 50 ” Flat-Screen TV. The same was true for the Most Wickets award, and the trophy was provided by ETS. The MVP award included a motorbike and $85,000 provided by Assuria Insurance.

Mahdia’s Ricardo Adams had the most runs (192) award compliments of Regal.

Troy Gonsalves, one of the inaugural champions of Eccles All-Stars, had the best economy rate (3.8), and his teammate Jonte Thomas had the Kwakaski highest strike rate. Both received $50,000 and a trophy.

Each of the semi-finalists also received $100,000 for their quarter-final wins, while the losing side received $30,000.
