High-powered rifles, shotgun & ammo seized in Reg. 7

Police Officers on Wednesday seized multiple firearms and a large quantity of ammunition at Waikarai Backdam, Region Seven (Cuyuni- Mazaruni).
A statement from Police Headquarters noted that a search was carried out in various locations within a mining camp between 12:05 hrs and 12:45 hrs Wednesday.
During the operation, the ranks discovered one 12-gauge shotgun, two rifles (AR-15 and AM-15 rifles) and 399 rounds of ammunition (including 150 rounds of .223 ammunition, 130 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 30 rounds of .38 special ammunition and 69 120 gauge cartridges).
Two men are in custody and Police said they are assisting with the ongoing probe. Ranks are attempting to apprehend other individuals linked to the weapons.
