Desmond George, a 35-year-old resident of Charity, Region Two (Pomeroon- Supenaam) was on Monday placed on $300,000 bail after he was charged with the rape of a child.
Police Headquarters reported that George appeared before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke at the Charity Magistrate’s Court.
The crime occurred on July 22, 2023 at Siriki in the Upper Pomeroon River, Essequibo Coast and was committed on a female from the Essequibo Coast.
The charge was laid under Section (3] (3) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03.
Police said bail was granted with conditions that George report every last Friday of the month to the Station Sergeant at Charity Police Station.
The case was adjourned to September 23, 2024.
