Several schools across Guyana will not re-open on Monday, September 2, due to ongoing rehabilitative works.
The Ministry of Education, in a memorandum on Friday afternoon, noted that “rehabilitative work was historically undertaken in most schools during the August vacation with a completion rate of 98.1%.”
The memorandum revealed that “some contractors and other service providers, even with their best efforts were unable to complete the following schools and dormitory which will be reopened as scheduled below.”
The Ministry also noted that in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, it manages and operates 1,196 public school facilities, including nursery, primary, and secondary schools, as well as 24 dormitories.
