A brilliant bowling performance from Leon Reddy and a solid knock from opener Saeed Jumratty guided Berbice to a three-wicket win over Demerara in the second round of the Guyana Cricket Board’s Under-13 Inter-county 40-over competition on Friday at the LBI ground, East Coast Demerara.
Demerara’s second defeat in as many games effectively ruled them out of championship honours with Berbice facing Essequibo in a virtual final on Saturday.
Essequibo defeated Demerara in the opening round at the Affiance ground on Thursday.
In round two, medium-pacer Reddy picked up 5-9 to lead the dismissal of Demerara for 107, before Jumratty stroked 49 to lead Berbice to victory at 108-7 from 29.4 overs.
Medium-pacer Prosper Jacobus was outstanding for Demerara, taking a hat-trick on his way to figures of 4-25.
