Bystander shot, injured during Police chase

A bystander was on Monday afternoon shot and injured after the Police opened fire on a car which refused to stop for a search.

The injured woman is a 28-year-old Venezuelan.

She was shot in the buttocks during the incident which took place at approximately 14:00hrs on Lime Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, said it was reported that two ranks from the Brickdam Police Station Impact Base Anti-Crime Patrol were on duty when they attempted to stop a tinted vehicle to carry out a search.

However, the car refused to stop and sped away, causing the ranks to open fire while pursuing the car.

During the process, the victim was struck.

She is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Police said the Office of Professional Responsibility is currently investigating the incident.

In the interim, the ranks are under close arrest.

    Those idiot police of the GPF shouldn’t be shooting at a vehicle because the driver did not stop.
    They could have killed innocent, just like they injured the woman.
    These trigger happy cops need some acute re- training, from head to toe and “policing” explained
    in details to them…. seriously.
