Hope Estate resident on $300K bail after charged with rape
Parmeshwar Jacobs called ‘Andy’ or ‘Akeem’
A 20-year old Hope Estate, East Coast Demerara labourer was on Friday charged with rape and placed on $300,000 bail.
Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce read the charge to Parmeshwar Jacobs called ‘Andy’ or ‘Akeem’ when he appeared at the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court.
The offence was allegedly committed between February 1, 2023 and February 28, 2023 at Hope Estate, East Coast Demerara.
Jacobs denied the allegation. He was represented by attorney Bernard Da Silva.
Bail was granted in the sum of $300,000 with conditions that Jacobs lodge his passport and report to the Cove and John police station the last Friday of every month.
The matter was adjourned to October 15, 2024 for statements.
