Police have arrested 25-year-old Junior Persaud in connection with a high-profile break-in and larceny at the ‘Rude Boy’ Supermarket.
The arrest came after a confrontation involving multiple armed suspects earlier on Monday.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call about a break-in at the supermarket and discovered four armed suspects inside.
The suspects opened fire on the police, prompting a return of gunfire. During the exchange, Persaud was apprehended, while three of his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
Following Persaud’s arrest, he provided information that led authorities to the residence of Dequan Small, a 22-year-old from 732 Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
Small was subsequently arrested at his home, where police conducted a search and found several items believed to have been stolen from the supermarket.
These items included breaking tools, a makeshift firearm, multiple car rims, and a small generator.
Despite the progress, two suspects remain at large as the police continue their investigation.
The search for the remaining suspects is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
