Canada’s new High Commissioner to Guyana, Sebastien Sigouin

President Dr. Irfaan Ali formally accepted the Letters of Credence from Canada’s new High Commissioner to Guyana, Sebastien Sigouin, at a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Office of the President.

In his brief remarks, President Ali praised the “exceptional relationship” between Guyana and Canada, emphasizing the strong bonds built on shared cultural values, mutual respect for law, and democratic principles.

The President highlighted that the relationship extends beyond mere trade, investment, and project collaboration, reflecting a profound connection between the peoples and governments of the two nations.

Guyana and Canada established diplomatic relations on May 26, 1966, marking nearly six decades of bilateral engagement.
