The British Chamber of Commerce Guyana (BritCham Guyana) was officially launched in the United Kingdom last Wednesday.

The launch event was held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, Thomas Lord Suite. It was a sold-out event, featuring over 300 persons in attendance.

Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, in a video message, expressed his support for the Chamber. According to him, such ventures are crucial because they help to promote the attractive investment opportunities in Guyana.

He also posited that the venture is one way of forging much-needed partnerships.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, a who is also a member of the Guyana diaspora, also sent a personal video message congratulating BritCham Guyana on their launch. Importantly, Mr. Lammy highlighted Guyana is now the UK’s biggest trading partner in the Caribbean.

BritCham’s founding chairman Faizal Khan highlighted that over 50 new UK companies were in attendance and a number of them are already working with BritCham to plan visits to Guyana this year.

Additionally, 40 Guyana-based companies went to London for the launch. This, Khan said, signals the serious commitment to boosting UK/ Guyana business ties.

BritCham Guyana also soft launched their new app, which is a collaboration with BritCham member Guyana-Business.com. The app allows all persons in attendance to communicate directly with all ticketed attendees as well as discuss projects together.
