In celebration of its 49th anniversary, the New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School (NAMS) launched its first-ever NAMS Sports Hall of Fame.
The concept of a sports hall of fame was crafted by teacher of the institution Tamesh Mohabir and features former students of NA Multi, who went on to excel in sports in their post secondary school life.
The Hall of Fame will see inductees added annually at each of the school’s anniversary celebration beginning this year.
The inaugural batch of inductees are Ashmini Munisar, Gajanand Singh, Ameer Rahaman, Julian Moore and Anthony D’Andrade, who have excelled in playing cricket and coaching the game, and basketball player Kevon Wiggins.
“According to Mohabir, apart from highlighting the stellar achievements of former ‘multarians’ in the world of sports, the hall of fame aims to serve as a means of inspiration for current sports oriented students of NAMS, as it shows them that students who were once in their position completed high school and established a successful career in sports,” the school highlighted on its Facebook page.
The next batch of inductees will be identified over the course of the current school year and will be inducted during the 50th anniversary celebration in 2025.
