A female radio host was arrested early Friday morning during a police stop-and-search operation on the Weldaad Public Road.
Shaima Muna, a 27-year-old radio personality and local singer from Charlestown, Georgetown, found herself in a precarious situation when officers from the Weldaad Police Station noticed her visibly anxious demeanor while driving the vehicle, registered as PAB 6190.
The officers, alerted by a strong odor reminiscent of marijuana wafting from the car, decided to investigate further.
Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered a red and blue traveling bag in the trunk, revealing parcels wrapped in transparent plastic—suspiciously resembling narcotics.
Inside the red bag, they uncovered two bulky parcels and one smaller one, while the blue bag contained two additional large parcels.
When confronted, Shaima was informed of the charges against her. Police said she admitted to owning the drugs, explaining that she had taken a risky gamble to help pay for her mother’s medical bills, who is currently hospitalized.
The seized marijuana weighed 14 kg and 515 grams. Shaima was escorted to the Weldaad Police Station, where she remains in custody. Statements have been collected, and she is set to appear in court later Friday.
