During his recent visit to New York, President Dr. Irfaan Ali was met with an enthusiastic reception from the Guyanese diaspora.
On Tuesday evening, the Head of State attended a lively social mixer at the Hibiscus Restaurant on Jamaica Avenue in Queens, where he connected with numerous expatriates. He also engaged the Guyanese community in a breakfast meeting in Brooklyn, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
At both gatherings, attendees passionately discussed the President’s vision for the nation’s development, covering a range of topics from education and healthcare to agriculture and the oil and gas sectors. Many raised important questions regarding initiatives to enhance local security.
Significantly, members of the diaspora expressed their eagerness to explore ways in which they could return and contribute to Guyana’s progress, highlighting a strong desire to be part of the nation’s future.
The President is in New York for this week’s United Nations General Assembly. He is also participating in several side events focused on key matters from food security, to climate change and energy security.
Some just want to return for the Free Money given out by the Government.
See ? I know the President would find time for a real Guyanese Fried Rice or MTG ( No, not that MTG), Metemgee. Where else but Liberty Avenue.
