The cycling community of Guyana will come together to honour the legacy of one of its most cherished athletes, Percy Anthony Boyce, through the inaugural Percy Boyce Memorial Cycle Tournament.

This inaugural event is sponsored by the PAB Foundation and will be executed by Flying Ace Cycle Club on October 20.

The road race will start at 13:00h on Carifesta Avenue, in front of the National Park, head up the East Coast Demerara roadway (to Half-Way tree at Mahaicony) and return to the point of origin for the finish.

The event promises to be an afternoon filled with excitement, camaraderie and a shared love for cycling.

Boyce, a national cycling champion, was known not only for his remarkable achievements on the bike, but also for his dedication to promoting the sport in Guyana.

His passion and commitment inspired countless young cyclists and left an indelible mark on the nation’s athletic landscape.

In tribute to his contributions, this tournament aims to celebrate his spirit while fostering the growth of cycling in Guyana.

The tournament will feature multiple categories for participants of all ages and skill levels, including Juniors, Category 4, Seniors, Veterans Over-50.

Cyclists will compete for trophies and an opportunity to secure their place in the Guyanese cycling community’s history.

“We are excited to honour Percy Boyce’s memory through this tournament,” said his son Rayad Boyce.

“My dad legacy continues to inspire us, and we hope this event will encourage more people to take up cycling and as part of a healthy lifestyle.”

Participants can register on-site before the event.

All proceeds from the tournament will go towards supporting local cycling programmes and initiatives aimed at nurturing young talents in Guyana.

“Join us as we pedal in memory of Percy Boyce and celebrate the sport he loved,” a release from the organisers encouraged.
