Omesh Danram came and conquered against his former club side, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), unleashing a brutal array of hitting that led the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) to the New Building Society (NBS) Second-Division 40-Over tournament title.
DCC hosted the day/night fixture on Sunday, and Danram played a gem of innings that proved the difference between the two sides.
The former national youth player smashed 14 touring maximums and seven fours in his 150 from just 108 balls, leading MYO to 298.
Opener Andrew Lyght Jr., another son of the soil from DCC, started the carnage with 56 (8x4s; 2x6s) from 51 balls, but DCC kept nagging wickets.
Safraz Esau made 20 (3x4s; 1×6) from 19 balls, but ultimately, the Danram special got MYO to a formidable total.
Jaden Dowlin (3-41), Jonathan Van Lange (3-45) and Wavell Allen (2-46) did the damage with the ball for DCC.
In response, the home side was bowled out for 250 as Adul Ramsammy (5-48) and Marlon Boele (2-28) undermined any chance the hosts had of reaching the target.
The return of Alphius Bookie to the side was pleasant, as he stroked an attractive 89 (8×4; 2x6s), but his innings and that of Van Lange, who made 59 (5x4s; 2x6s), were not enough.
