In an effort to bridge the gap between traditional installation methods and cutting-edge technology, local technicians and engineers in Guyana Wednesday participated in a specialised training seminar on LG products.
The initiative, designed to enhance technical skills and improve daily operations, took place at GT Motorsports in Georgetown.
The seminar, led by LG Air Solutions field engineer Eduardo Valdes and supported by Platinum Sales and Services—LG’s local distributor and service centre—focused primarily on LG’s air conditioning units, widely used in Guyana’s expanding commercial sector.
Participants received in-depth training on installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and best practices for optimising product efficiency. Valdes highlighted the importance of understanding advanced equipment to ensure compatibility with modern installation techniques.
Typically, technicians rely on traditional installation methods that may not align with newer equipment, Valdes explained.
This training helps them gain the knowledge required to install and maintain these systems efficiently, which is crucial for meeting customer needs.
Valdes added that the seminar forms part of a larger certified training programme offered in Panama, where select technicians gain advanced credentials.
Two trainees from Guyana participated in the certification programme last year, and they returned with improved skills, which allowed them to resolve installation issues more effectively.
The seminar also provided valuable insights to enhance customer satisfaction.
Valdes noted that the goal is to give technicians the tools they need to work faster and more efficiently, so they can “serve the customers quickly.”
Addressing the Needs of Guyana’s Growing Commercial Sector
The training aligns with the rapid growth of Guyana’s commercial infrastructure, including the rise of apartment complexes, hotels, and office buildings.
Mahendra Boodhoo, owner of Platinum Sales and Services, stressed the importance of equipping local professionals with knowledge of energy-efficient technology and modern installation techniques.
“Technology and LG is way above what we know locally,” Boodhoo stated.
A Commitment to Continuous Training
Approximately 50 participants from various companies in the electronics business attended the seminar.
Platinum Sales and Services aims to host similar training sessions quarterly to maintain a consistent focus on skill development and technological advancements.
As Guyana continues to modernise its commercial sector, training programs like this are crucial to ensuring the local workforce can adapt to and excel with advanced technology.
