Children’s Convalescent Home gets $60M restoration 

The Red Cross Children’s Convalescent Home benefitted from a $60 million restoration project set to help those most in need.

The project was completed through collaboration among the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Guyana Red Cross Society, the Rotary Club of Georgetown, and the community of Durban Backlands.

Past President of the Rotary Club of Georgetown, Sheldon Hazlewood said the restoration was much-needed. For one, the building was leaking in many places.

So the club collaborated with others to restore the space. The Home also received some revamping so the children could benefit from better facilities.

The children in this home require individualised care. Apart from their physical needs, the Home has facilities that cater to their overall development. As such, Hazlewood said the project is a crucial one.
