Airport workers nabbed with nearly 10 pounds of cocaine

Keesha Greene, 29, and Shaquille Thompson, 28, two Cheddi Jagan International Airport workers, were arrested after they were caught with cocaine on Thursday.

In a press release, the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said a quantity of cocaine was found strapped on the body of Green, an aviation security officer during a routine search.

She was subsequently arrested and taken to CANU’s headquarters along with a quantity of cocaine, which weighed 2.152 kilogrammes (or about 4.74 pounds).

Follow-up investigations, CANU said, led to Thompson’s arrest. He is an airport security officer and he was nabbed with cocaine that weighed 2.134 kilogrammes (or about 4.7 pounds).

In a subsequent release, CANU said Greene was Friday sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $3.2 million after appearing before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Diamond’s Magistrate’s Court.

Meanwhile, Thompson pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the Magistrate on Friday. Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned until January 8, 2025.
